Hi, I’m Daphne who discovered diamond painting, fell completely in love with it, and suddenly realized I had more completed painting and diamond art than I know what to do with.
I found Diamond painting after giving Paint Pouring a try for over a year. Paint pouring art is fun but messy and a special room is needed to splatter, mix paints and dry the art. I did Paint Pouring out in the garage. My garage was so hot and need I say more as I live in Florida… Who wants to do art in the heat and in a garage by yourself? … not me.
I tried one Diamond painting, and I was sold and in love. Each diamond sparkle dot is placed with precision and love on the canvas that is laid out by symbols and numbers that correspond to the Dots (or Beads). I will explain more of the process for diamond paining on my next blog.
Why Diamond Painting Feels Relaxing to me
There is something calming about sitting down at the end of a long day, turning on the television and placing tiny sparkling diamonds one by one onto a canvas. There have been times when I have listened to a book series while doing diamond dots. Reading is another one of my loves that I can combine with the diamond painting. For many people diamond painting becomes more than a craft. It can become a peaceful escape from stress, noise and everyday responsibilities
For women especially, life is often spent taking care of everyone else first. Work, family, schedules, bills, responsibilities, and constant distractions can leave little time for ourselves. Diamond painting creates a moment where the mind can finally slow down.
A Quiet Evening at Home
One of the best things about diamond painting is the peaceful routine it creates. You can:
- Sit in your favorite chair
- Make a cup of coffee or tea
- Listen to music or a favorite show
- Enjoy silence without pressure
Unlike many hobbies, there is no rush and no perfection required, the simple act of matching color and placing drills on the canvas becomes almost meditative. After a stressful day, those quit evenings can feel comforting and grounding.
Painting Helps Relive Stress
Diamond painting helps reduce stress because it allows your brain to focus on one small task at a time. Instead of thinking about:
- Work stress
- Finances
- Family worries
- Daily responsibilities
your attention shifts to colors, patterns, sparkle, small accomplishments or if you want to challenge yourself pick a large canvas that will take a longer time….
Many people describe it as similar to:
- adult coloring,
- puzzles,
- crocheting- (tried that one Not for me),
- sewing
- meditation
The repetitive motion of placing drills sparkle can help calm racing thoughts and anxiety. It gives the brain a break from constant stimulation and creates a feeling of peace.
The feeling of Accomplishment
One of the most rewarding parts of diamond painting is watching a blank canvas slowly turn into something beautiful. At first it may look overwhelming, then one section is completed, then another. The colors begin coming to live and the details will appear. The accomplishment is the completed picture that shines through.
That feeling of stepping back and seeing something you completed with your own hands is incredibly satisfying. The accomplishment is something to be proud of. In a world where so much feels rushed and temporary, finishing a diamond painting gives a real sense of accomplishment. You can proudly say; “I made this.” That is a feeling that matters.
More than Just a Hobby
For many people, diamond painting becomes:
- A stress reliever
- A creative outlet
- A nightly routine
- A confidence builder
- A source of joy
Some even discover that it helps them reconnect with the creativity later in life after years of focusing only on work and responsibilities. It is not just about the finished artwork. It is about slowing down, enjoying quiet moments, creating beauty and finding peace in a process.
Why I love It
Diamond painting brings a sense of calm into the home. The sparkle, colors, and quiet concentration can turn an ordinary evening into something relaxing and meaningful. There is only so much space in your home on the walls. If I placed all the completed diamond paintings I have on the walls I would still have some left over. And before long, many of us realize something funny: we somehow ended up with “too many diamonds” and loved every minute of it.
